Finally !
A state legislative commission has investigated, reviewed, and passed a needed standard for effective oral appliance/mouth guard design, functionality, and effectiveness for their state’s aspiring amateur fighters participating in traditional boxing, and the up-and- coming MMA/NHB style of ring/cage competition.

Former boxing veteran and Georgia Amateur Boxing & Amateur MMA Commissioner Andy Foster(now residing over California’s Amateur Boxing & MMA Commission) has been a driving force in getting effective guard designs approved and inferior designs away from the sport he has participated in, and now oversees in California.

“I used Brain-Pad(dual-arch) design in all my fights. I love it. I think its a great piece of safety equipment.

It’s approved to be used.”.

Former Director of the Am. Boxing & MMA Commission of Georgia.
Presently the Director of the Am. Boxing & MMA Commission of California.

Georgia-Dual-Arch-Rule-4_blogThis dual-arch mouth guard standard aims to inform and protect participants state-wide and addresses, for the first time, that some mouth guard technology is much safer others.  We thank Andy for all his work and efforts to bring this needed standard into law in the State of Georgia.
Currently, mouth guards are the only piece of protective equipment that have no national standards implemented for quality, effectiveness of design, nor impact absorptive thresholds or ratings regarding impact energy reduction and oral/facial protection.

Wonder if your MG is really effective & protective when put to the test ?

Brain-Pad Technology is effective – Stephen D. Smith, D.M.D., Paoli, Pa.

I support the dual arch technology you have developed for the purpose of impact reduction. Certainly cushioning the condyle and teeth with a 3-4 mm interocclusal elastomeric material helps reduce impact upward against the glenoid fossa and skull. Shock at impact causes impaired function. The temporal bone is thinnest at the top of the glenoid fossa/housing of the TMJ, with as little as 1/8″ to 1/16″ thickness to the brain, and susceptible to traumatic injury, including perforation. The helmeted sports accelerate a whiplash fulcrum effect on the temporomandibular joint through chinstrap force. Cushioning the mandible down and forward is essential in mouthguard design related to impact energy injury. This also occurrs with martial arts impact sports where a direct blow to the jaw can occurr.

The design of airway opening for breathing, and protection of all the teeth are other advantages of your design.

Cordially,

Stephen D. Smith, D.M.D., Paoli, Pa.

My son won the AAU State championship this year for his divison in TKD at the Indiana State Championships. He went on to earn a Bronze Medal at Nationals and is now #3 in the country in his division. We only use your product and I am attaching a photo of him on the podium getting his Gold medal and you can see the mouth guard plain as day. I recently had to replace his mouth guard and of course got another brain pad. If ever we can give a testimonial or endorse your product please let us know. You make great stuff! Keep up the good work.

The Jaw-Joint complex is the most complex, fragile, and arguably the most over-looked and under-protected joint of the human body.  Jaw-Joint damage is permanent.

The posterior socket walls which align the back of the jaw bones are only 1/6 of an inch thick. Cracks in the posterior socket wall ( ie: green stick fractures ) do not return to their natural shape after trauma such as lower jaw impacts or impactions, instead, they calcify ( harden ) after being elongated back towards the base of skull and brain.

Behind this thin socket wall reside major nerves running from the base of the skull to all parts of the body.  An elongated socket permanently interferes with these vital body-controlling nerves as they attempt to communicate with the brain and affect muscular strength, balance, and coordination.

The Jaw-Joint complexes are crucial to competitive success and also key-players in loss of “The Competitive Edge”.  Unfortunately they are also the least-publicized and least-protected joints of the human anatomy.  When the head is a legitimate target, they must be protected to avoid long-term, permanent damage.
